This week, the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India is going to Ahmedabad for its 9th Annual Convention-cum-Exhibition. This visit becomes very important for two reasons, first – Gujarat is among the top tourism destinations of the country, hence you can’t afford to stay unaware of the newly added and niche tourism products of the state. Two – this is the first ever visit of ADTOI with such a large number of domestic tour operators, which is a huge opportunity to interact with the local tour operators, establish new partnerships and grow business opportunities.
PP Khanna President ADTOI & Chairman Convention The purpose of having Convention in Ahmedabad is to interact and network with local tour operators and service providers to gain further knowledge about the newly added attractions and niche tourism products of the state. We are exploring opportunities be associated with the state for promotion, and investment through PPP model. This convention will play a role of catalyst in growth of tourism business between the state and the industry stakeholders.
Our Conventions are becoming more relevant to the need of industry professionals and we are improving year-on-year. We have adopted best practices from similar events of the industry and implementing them in our conventions. Our previous convention in Vizag has been very successful and attracted a remarkable number of delegates.
Rajesh Arya Vice President – ADTOI The host state – Gujarat is home to several architectural marvels and is famous for its vibrant culture (Garba & Rass Dandiya) Heritage sites and Cuisines etc. Apart from this, the Wildlife in Gujarat also includes the most famous one being the Asiatic Lion. The Gir National Park has become a home to many of these Asiatic Lions. And not forget the Religious segment which has a lot of world famous places to go, and of course the newly added attraction world’s tallest – Statue of Unity.
Most of the ADTOI members are well aware of the products available in the state of Gujarat, and selling it in a big number. However, our purpose to organize this Convention in Gujarat is to get further information about the newly added and niche products of state and networking with the local partners. Through this Convention our delegates will have a chance to exchange business opportunities with new partners, and share ideas to grow their respective businesses.
The ADTOI Conventions are becoming a much awaited event of the industry. Gradually we are improving and adding new content to our Conventions which is more relevant and useful for our members. The Convention offers an opportunity to its members from across the country to come under one roof and talk about the growth of tourism in their respective fields. Various State Tourism Boards are also participating at the Convention which is another advantage for our delegates. As of today we have around 900 members and expecting to reach 1200 by next year.
Chetan Gupta Hony General Secretary – ADTOI Our Convention destination – Gujarat has a huge potential in terms of tourism. Wide range of options from pilgrimage to magnificent hills, jungles to rivers, nature to religious temples and not to forget the world’s tallest – ‘Statue of Unity’ which every Indian traveller wishes to visit. Today Gujarat is known for its unique advertisement campaign and its religious aspects like Dwarka and Somnath Temples. Its popular events like Rann of Kutch and Dandiya Festivals are huge attractions for tourist coming to Gujarat.
If you talk about this year’s Convention, I would say the format will be more or less similar, but we have raised the bar this time as compare to our previous editions. Since the Chief Minister of the State, Tourism Ministers and Principal Secretary have confirmed their participation; we will have grand inauguration session and valuable business session which will speak about the current scenario of travel and tourism industry. Apart from this, we will have exhibition and B2B session for members to interact and develop business opportunities.
Anil Rajput Co-chairman Convention Gujarat has come up as a big attraction for tourists because of the places which are not elsewhere, most of ADTOI members are selling Gujarat as a tourism product and we are in discussion with the Department of Tourism, Government of Gujarat to conduct a State Specialist Programme to enhance the knowledge of our members about the newly added and niches tourism products of the state. Though the state has a number of popular tourism places across the state, apart from nature, Rann of Kutch and Ahmedabad a World Heritage City, now the World’s tallest, the Statue of Unity is the latest attraction among the tour operators and tourist as well.
As far as the Conventions are concerned, its a platform where large number of tour operators gathers for networking and product knowledge, hence the government should take this opportunity to share the schemes available for Public Private Partnership and workshops for members to educate them about the new circuits and business opportunities from the local tour operators of the state.
Sanjay Saxena Co-chairman Convention There is no doubt about it that the state of Gujarat has a huge potential for Tourism for all kinds of travellers and thanks to the initiative by Ministry of Tourism, Govt of Gujarat for inviting ADTOI to conduct its 9th Annual Convention at Ahmadabad .What any tourist requires getting its money worth is available in Gujarat. It’s a state with fusion of history, culture and modernization .The unique features of Gujarat, its diversity and heritage completely blends with ADTOI theme of Explore India-Experience India.
As undoubtedly not only the members of ADTOI but Indians at large require knowledge and availability of potential resources to develop tourism in Gujarat. Now days we have to come out with repeated promotion of age old popular places of interest at convenient location, rather more focused promotion is required on places associated with history, adventure, myths and mythology. I feel that ADTOI convention will open new vistas of Gujarat for domestic as well as for international markets.
We are coming out with business session of PPP model, presentation by our state chapters chairmen and planning to host a session on development of state travel guides, travel writers , bloggers and story tellers of respective places of interest ,and will try enhance focus on local handicraft .
