In an attempt to speedy recovery of the tourism and hospitality sector in the State of West Bengal the Government is endevouring to vaccinate all the industry stakeholders within minimum possible time. Therefore, the Government has notified ‘Tourism’ (including hospitality) as one of the priority sectors for vaccination against Covid-19 in the state.
As per the order issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department of Government of West Bengal stated that the groups such as Tourism (including hospitality), Industrial Workers, Rice Mill Workers, MSME Artisans, Domestic Workers, Cable TV Operators etc. will be covered under (ii) Groups which are public facing Groups exposed to public mingling.
DMs will ensure overall coordination in the Districts under guidance of respective departments’ secretaries. The order will come into immediate effect. Accordingly all concerned departments will take required action.
The vaccination of such groups will be organised by the respective departments on the priority basis. Tourism Department has been appointed as the Nodal Department for the vaccination drive of the stakeholders of tourism including hospitality.
Meanwhile the State Government has decided to extend the lockdown in the state till June 15. The state has registered around 16,225 new covid-19 cases in the first week of June, raising the tally to 13,18, 203. The State now has 1, 23,377 active cases with 11, 79,999 patients recovering from the disease.
