Immensely popular among Indian than some of the local stars, having a huge fan following on social media, David Warner is undoubtedly the most perfect to inspire Indian travellers to visit Australia.
The most prolific overseas batter in the history of IPL has played for the Delhi Daredevils from 2009 to 2013, and then for the Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2014, where he was named captain and won the title in 2016.
In an order to woo Indian travellers to Australia, the newly launched social media campaign, starring former Australian cricketer David Warner showcases some of his favourite Australian holiday destinations and experiences in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.
The four-part series, to feature on Tourism Australia’s Instagram account, @australia, has launched in India just weeks out from the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The five Test series between Australia and India begins in Perth, Western Australia on 22 November 2024.
Tourism Australia Managing Director, Phillipa Harrison, said it has been great to team up with the former Australian opening batsman to highlight to cricket fans across India what Australia has to offer as a holiday destination.
“We know the former Australian opening batsman remains an incredibly popular figure here in India and we are confident once travellers have seen his recommendations they will want to book a holiday to Australia to see for themselves what our destination has to offer.”
David Warner said he is immensely proud to partner with Tourism Australia on the new social content series.
“From our unique wildlife to our coffee culture, and icons like the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia has so much to offer travellers from India, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to show off our backyard, he added.
“We are already seeing Indian travellers visit Australia in greater numbers than ever before and with improved aviation links between our two countries we want to see that continue to track in the right direction,” concludes Phillipa Harrison.
