In an attempt to enhance the awareness about the tourist destinations, and facilitate the travellers who wish to travel the country, Taiwan Tourism Bureau (TTB) opened its Information Centre in Mumbai recently. The Taiwan Tourism Information Center (TTIC) in Mumbai will be operated as a non-profit organization, promoting tourism through both domestic and international activities.
Located in the TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) Taipei World Trade Center Liaison Office in Cuffe Parade, TTIC was inaugurated by Dr. Trust Lin, Director, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Singapore Office. His Excellency Chung-Kwang Tien, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, Rupa Naik, Senior Director of WTC Mumbai, the travel trade community, media and social media influencers were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr. Trust Lin, Director, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Singapore office said: “To bring awareness among travel agents, the media and consumers about Taiwan as the perfect destination, in the last quarter of 2018 and in 2019, we will be conducting increased B2B and B2C activities. We will also be focusing on specialised segments such as Golf etc to drive growth from the top layer of the Indian market.”
TTB will be concentrating on advertising, FAM trips for the media and the trade, roadshows and educational seminars and joint marketing promotions apart from participating in trade exhibitions across India.
In 2017, 35,000 visitors travelled from India to Taiwan, and January 2018 showed a 19.79% increase over the same period last year; while March 2018 showed a 16.60% growth over the same period last year.
While updating on the future plans, TTB announced that Taiwan booth will be installed at Mood Indigo, Asia’s Largest Cultural Festival in Mumbai from 27th to 30th December where the popular Taiwanese Dance Group T.S.D will be performing as well at the event.
Announcements were also made regarding two major events coming up in Taiwan – the Lantern festival from the 19th of February to 3rd of March and the Flora Expo which is from 3rd November 2018 to 24th April 2019.
As informed by TTB, the country has emerged as the second top destination in Asia for cruise tourism. Last year there were one million cruise passengers to Taiwan and the destination is working closely with Singapore, Hong Kong and other Asian countries to further enhance this segment.
