New Delhi: In order to attract more travellers from this part of the world TTB has initiated a visa-free entry scheme for Indians sailing in through Star Cruise from January 2015 onwards.
“We are expecting to receive more MICE traffic along with leisure through this initiative. The scheme is being revised and new routes and cruise lines would be added in the near future,” said Arthur Hsieh, Director, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Singapore Office.
Adding to this, Noel Saxena, Country Head – India, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, said: “The MICE segment is growing rapidly in India. Keeping this trend in mind TTB aims to attract a large number of corporate travellers to Taiwan. We aim to promote Taiwan as the preferred MICE destination in India and its vicinity. Beyond Taipei, we will be promoting other regions such as Sun Moon Lake, Taroko, Taichung and Kenting this year in India.”
Aims 20 percent growth in 2015
To strengthen their presence in India an Online Training Programme for the agents and Corporate MICE Evening are lined up for the month of March and June respectively. Taiwan has received 32, 000 visitors in 2014 with an increase of 20 percent over 2013.
“Encouraged with the response we have received from the Indian market, we are expecting at least 30 percent growth in the arrivals over the last year. TTB has planned to organise more roadshows and training programmes to educate our partners in India,” said Hsieh.
“We have increased our marketing budget by 50 percent. Investing more in advertisements on billboards, movie theatres and taxis will be high on agenda,” he added.
