Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has elected new Managing Committee for the term 2018-20 during 24th Annual General Meeting held today at The Grand Hotel New Delhi. Under the leadership of Praveen Chugh as President, Pradip Lulla, Aditi Bhende and Jayesh Tharani will continue as Vice President, General Secretary and Treasurer for 2018-20.
The five Committee Members are elected as, A Basheer Ahmed of Chennai Metro Travels Pvt Ltd. – Chennai, Rajat Bagaria of Shrishti Tours & Travels Pvt Ltd – Mumbai, Bharat Shah of Sunbeams Travels (Baroda) Pvt. Ltd, Teddy M. Thomas of The Oasis Xpress Travel & Tours – New Delhi and Urvashi Dogra of Delfly Travels Pvt Ltd, New Delhi.
While sharing his agenda for the new term, Chugh said that the priority will be given to the unfinished task such as GST and Transaction Fee etc. TAFI will demand relaxation in GST on international travel as the agents (TAFI) are not getting any Input Tax Credit. “We are going aggressive to explain the requirement of travel industry, that we (the travel agents) need a proper survival, and for our survival the vendors be it airline, hotels or transport must provide some margins.”
According to him, “One of the most important agenda for us is reducing the operational cost of travel agencies of our members. The newly launched digital platform – TAFI Connect will be instrumental in achieving this goal. TAFI Connect will facilitate its members to enhance their knowledge, reach to newer markets and deal with their customers in minimum possible time.
