First commenced in 2011, the eighth edition of India Heritage Tourism Conclave – an initiative of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) is all set to be organised on March 27, 2019 at WelcomeHotel The Savoy, Mussoorie in Uttarakhand. Sustainable Tourism Management at World Heritage Sites has been opted as the theme for this year’s conclave.
The IHTC will address all aspects of heritage, be it wellness, religion, cuisine, crafts and music etc. The key tourism management issues – such as coordination between heritage management and tourism organizations, extending benefits to local communities, reducing tourism congestion and environmental impacts will be discussed during the conclave.
Elaborating on the Conclave, Sr. Vice President, PHDCCI, D K Aggarwal said: “Through this Conclave, PHDCCI aims at illustrating how World Heritage Sites can be integrated into broader regional and destination-level tourism management processes, creating a strong platform to exchange best practices, discuss challenges and opportunities in the Heritage Tourism sector.”
Radha Bhatia, Chairperson- Tourism Committee along with Rajan Sehgal and Kishore Kaya, Co-Chairmen- Tourism Committee were present on the occasion.
The Conclave will be attended by the officials of Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Environment, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Indian and Foreign Tour Operators, State and International Tourism Boards, Embassies & High Comissions and Corporate Groups of travel and hospitality industry.
Minister of State for Tourism (I/C), Government of India K J Alphons, and Minister of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand Satpal Maharaj have been invited as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively on the occasion.
