While interacting with media in New Delhi recently, Souvagya Mohapatra, Executive Director, Mayfair Group of Hotels said that the State Government is extending all out support to the industry. Taking the advantage, the Mayfair Group is hiking its investment at the various locations in the State of Odisha.
The Group has announced that there is a move to set up largest Convention Centre in the Capital City of Odisha. The Group will also be setting up a major Golf Resort at Chilika Lake – Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon. Mayfair Lagoon, Bhubaneswar is a five star deluxe resort which is recognized as one of the best in India. With the help of Government of Odisha, Mayfair committed to invest more in Odisha and take the state to the world map.
Elaborating more on this, Mohapatra informed: “The Government of Odisha is already helping us to set up these two mega projects.” “While there is talk about the tourism products of Odisha for a very long time but opportunity like this to expose our products to the right segment of people never came,” he added.
“Mayfair Group under the leadership of Hospitality Czar, Dilip Ray – CMD Mayfair Group of Hotels, will be able to offer best of the products to the tourists in Group’s 11 properties, six of our properties are located in Odisha,” he said.
While elaborating on the tourism potential of the state, he said that India’s Best Kept Secret’, state of Odisha is blessed with varied tourism products under one roof such as long coastline, forests, lakes, rich cultural heritage, architectural monuments, and tribal habitats. Odisha has lot of advantages as far as tourism products are concerned, “We need to shift our focus only from Bhubaneswar – Puri – Konark and focus on diversified tourism products of Odisha.
Mohapatra further said that the introduction of Sports infrastructure such as world class– Kalinga Stadium, the state is able to attract world events such as Asian Athletics championship, World Cup Hockey, Commonwealth TT championship etc. There are many more world sports events lined up in future.
With the location advantage, best air and rail connectivity with the entire country, the state has become a very good MICE and Wedding destination. Golden triangle Bhubaneswar – Puri – Konark forms an added attraction for MICE and Wedding tourism.
