To further strengthen the Maldives’ brand visibility and secure the Indian outbound market with their unique offerings, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation is gearing up to take part in prominent upcoming trade fairs in the country.
The strategy follows MMPRC’s ongoing efforts to maintain India as the top source market for the island nation. Visit Maldives has announced its participation in One World Travel Market (OTM) and South Asian Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE), India’s leading travel and tourism trade exhibitions.
The delegations to the travel trade shows will be led by MMPRC/Visit Maldives together with hospitality partners and tourism industry stakeholders. Attendees at the exhibitions will have the opportunity to engage in one-on-one meetings with representatives from Visit Maldives and their industry partners, and have the chance to connect with local suppliers from the Maldives such as hotels, resorts, guest houses, liveaboards, DMCs etc. in order to learn more about the exciting tourism offerings available from the Sunny Side of Life.
“We look forward to participating in India’s prominent travel trade events, OTM and SATTE, as they serve as pragmatic platforms for promoting tourism into the Maldives,” said Thoyyib Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO and MD) of MMPRC.
“India continues to be a key source market for us, and through our participation, we aim to sustain the Maldives’ presence and appeal in the Indian market. We are enthusiastic about showcasing our destination’s offerings as well as the exciting upcoming developments to our trade partners in India,” he added.
India has been the leading source market for the Maldives for the past three years in a row. Indians constituted the majority of international tourist arrivals to the Maldives in 2020, 2021, and 2022. A total of 241,369 Indian tourists travelled to the island nation in 2022, representing 14.4 per cent market share, according to the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism.
