JCB launches Facebook page to tap into growing events based tourism

The page aims to disseminate information on business travel to Japan for business event planners, travel agents and event attendees

Given the growing recognition of rich dividend that business events like conferences, congresses and exhibitions bring to a destination, national tourist offices are increasingly improving their information and education channels in order to create the right buzz and improve the destination profile for events based tourism.
In order to capitalise on the growing events based tourism travel, the Japan Convention Bureau (JCB), which is a part of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), has launched an official Facebook page for business events on October 1st, 2018. The official account – which differentiates Japan’s business events from general tourism, is expected to be a game-changer in the social media world as it aims to disseminate information on business travel to Japan for business event planners, travel agents and event attendees.
Lauding the latest JCB initiative, NIMA’s (Network of Indian MICE Agents) Founder Member and Coordinator – Events & Partnership, Jagdeep Bhagat, said, “It is high time that tourism boards, NTOs and their representatives start looking at the tourism possibilities through MICE perspective too. Most of them are represented by their leisure tourism bodies and hence there is practically no dedicated effort to promote MICE. At NIMA, we heartily welcome the social media initiative by JCB to establish a dedicated Facebook page for promoting MICE tourism to Japan.”
Furthermore Bhagat added that NIMA would look forward to extend all possible support to JCB in showcasing Japan’s business events offerings for the benefit of Japan as well as NIMA members and stakeholders of Indian MICE industry.
The Facebook page will illustrate why organizations should take their meetings to Japan by showcasing the destination’s diverse offerings. The latest news concerning meetings, incentives, conventions and trade shows, as well as information on Japan’s cities, offers users facts, figures and images that will brand the image of Japan as a destination meeting planners can’t do without.
The Japan Convention Bureau launched the Facebook page as part of the new campaign that was initiated early this year, with the advertising slogan, “Japan. Meetings & Events -New ideas start here”.
