In order to find the ways and means on ‘how to achieve two folds growth in the MICE sector, and maximising its contribution and impact in making India a five trillion economy, ICPB’s flagship calendar event ‘Conventions India Conclave‘ (CIC) is all set to bring more than three hundred largest and renowned MICE industry stakeholders and conglomerates under one roof.
Supported by Government of Gujarat, the much awaited 14th edition of ‘Conventions India Conclave’ is scheduled to take place at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar from December 7th-9th, 2023. The theme of the Convention is ‘Sustainable MICE: Empowering Events Towards a Five Trillion Economy.’
‘Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions’ popularly known as MICE, an integral and most lucrative segment of tourism business contributes a hefty share to world’s largest and fastest growing economies. Various studies done on the significance of MICE sector reveals that ‘Global MICE Industry’ has accounted almost 22% of the total market size across the world.
However, the sad part is that even after having such a promising growth opportunity the Indian MICE industry could achieve barely one percent share of the estimated global MICE business.
According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICAA) ranking, India was ranked 28th with 158 meetings in 2019. Only seven Indian cities have been included in the top 475 cities as per the international ranking of cities by ICAA in terms of the number of international association meetings.
In such a scenario when opportunities are immense but the achievement is less than expected, holding a Convention to find out the ways & means to achieve highest growth in MICE sector, and enhancing its contribution towards making India a five trillion economy is definitely a timely and most required act.
While elaborating on the significance of the pioneer, premier and MICE dedicated event, Amaresh Tiwari, Vice Chairman of India Convention Promotion Bureau, said: “Conventions India Conclave – the one & only MICE dedicated event of the country will provide ample opportunities for participation in the mind boggling knowledge sessions, business-to-business meetings and networking among industry stakeholders during the three days Conclave.”
“Undoubtedly, the forthcoming Convention will be an exclusive opportunity for MICE exhibitors and suppliers of the industry to showcase their products or services to potential domestic and international buyers. Almost 150 quality buyers from national and international fronts have confirmed their participation at the event,” he added.
Eminent speakers like Rakesh Kumar Verma, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Hareet Shukla, Principal Secretary Tourism, Govt. of Gujarat, Dr. Saurabh Zamsingh Pardhi, Managing Director, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat, will address the participants and share their prospective on the MICE industry in India.
Senthil Gopinath, CEO, International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and Nakul Anand, Executive Director, ITC Limited are the Key Note speakers at the conclave.
Launch of ICPB Gujarat State Chapter
ICPB State Chapter Gujarat, will be launched at the event to aggressively promote Gujarat with the sub brand ‘Meet in Gujarat’ to position the state as a MICE destination.
The Governing Board of the State Chapter will be chaired by Principal Secretary, Gujarat Tourism with members from the different segments of the MICE industry in the State like Venues, Hotels, DMC’s, PCO’s and service providers to include AV Agencies, Fabricators etc.
