Chief Minister launches promo to brandish many facets of Goa tourism
To go beyond beaches, Goa is all set to promote other facets of tourism through the newly created promotional film released at the outset of GITM 2019.
To promote various faces of tourism in Goa (beyond beaches) the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant launched the promotional film on Goa Tourism on 23rd October 2019 at the inaugural ceremony of third edition of Goa International Travel Mart (GITM). The promotional video showcases the diversity of tourism products in the state be it heritage, culture, festivals, adventure, nightlife, fashion and cuisine etc.
While addressing the delegates Chief Minister Dr Sawant said: “Goa is not only about sun, sand and sea but has its green forests, natural resources etc. and the state is very keen to promote other facets of the travel and hospitality in Goa such as eco-tourism, health tourism, sports tourism, white water rafting, adventure tourism, heritage, cuisine, culture etc to boost the growth of this sector.”
The Chief Minister said the state is serious about and accord priority to the safety of tourist so that they feel happy and comfortable to move. The Government for this purpose has appointed an agency of lifeguards to look after the safety of tourists.
The Deputy Chief Minister who holds the Tourism profile as well Manohar Ajgaonkar in his address said that apart from the beaches, the state is being recognized and emerging as one of the potential destinations in other segments such as churches, temples nightlife, music fashion, football ,festivals, wellness, medical, eco-tourism and adventure etc. The recent National Tourism Award conferred to the State of Goa for ‘Best Adventure State’ is a testimony of the huge potential of tourism in this segment.
Speaking on the same lines Secretary Tourism, J Ashok Kumar said that Goa sustain a huge popularity among the travellers from national and international fronts as a beach destination, however through this video the department is promoting medical tourism, eco & wellness, culture heritage festival and and cuisines which are unmatched to any other state.
Elaborating on the new promotional film Nikhil Desai, Managing Director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation said that Goa offers its visitors all reasons to visit the state for a memorable vacation and the promotional video that we have launched today beautifully captured all the faces of tourism in Goa.
GITM – the three-day-long B2B event organized by Directorate of Tourism brought together all the stakeholders such as hoteliers, wedding planners, travel companies, wildlife, adventure, event managements, wellness and other leisure enterprises on one platform to showcase investment potential in the state.
110 international buyers from 40 countries such as UK, USA, Russia, Germany, France, Jordan, Bulgaria, Israel, New Zealand, Austria, Italy, Croatia, Hungry, Middle East, Malaysia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and Finland etc interacted with the 93 exhibitors/sellers including travel professionals from wildlife, eco-tourism and nightlife segments, hotels, wedding planners, event organizers etc from the state of Goa. At domestic front there were 150 buyers who actively participated at this edition of GITM.
