The iconic Taj Mahal, New Delhi, one of the most distinguished addresses of the National Capital, is celebrating the culinary legacy of the fabled Machan by presenting the signature dishes from the original menu of 1978-79 and the journey thereafter.
Machan, the Capital’s first 24-hour international eatery, has enjoyed the patronage of guests for 40 glorious years. With this special promotion, the Hotel welcomes guests to rewind and relive the Classics at Machan. The mélange of cuisine, rich in flavor and memories and classic in its origin, will be available À la carte at the restaurant till 09th July 2019.
Machan, a pioneering concept in cuisine, service and its 24*7 offerings, opened its doors in 1978. Under the inspiring leadership of Executive Chef Arun Sundararaj and Chef Tapas Bhattacharya, the fabled Chef Manager at the restaurant for over 3 decades, the Hotel’s culinary experts have recreated famed delicacies that featured on Machan’s original menu, for the 40th-anniversary celebrations.
The delectable array of dishes includes favorites such as Machan’s mutton cutlet, Paloc soup, Chicken montecarlo, Spaghetti bella’roma, Prawn Cocktail, Hazratganj Biryani, Subz Masala Chawal, Kathi Kebab Kaziranga along with desserts such as Apple strudel, Bull’s Eye and Orange flavored cream caramel.
Executive Chef Arun Sundararaj and Chef Tapas Bhattacharya shared anecdotes and nostalgia about the restaurant – its concept, the unique décor & music philosophy and the local & global cuisine that makes Machan a much-loved dining destination across generations. The music was specially created by Ananda Shankar based on the theme of the restaurant.
Machan’s favorite Cona Coffee, the ever-popular midnight menu and the Taj Safaris inspired the menu, with a part of the revenue being utilized for environmental conservation in the villages neighboring the Lodges in Madhya Pradesh, are some of the unique elements of Machan.
