In an attempt to promote North East region extensively the Association of Domestic Tour Operator of India (ADTOI) has launched its tenth Chapter recently at Taj Vivanta coinciding with Rongali Festival in Guwahati (Assam).
Before this development, ADTOI had nine State Chapters – Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat, West Bengal+North East, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh operating in the country.
A new team to lead the North East chapter has been announced during the launch. Arijit Purkayastha has been appointed as the Chairman, whereas Sazid Subhan – Secretary, Sudarshan Khound – Treasurer and Shreya Barbara took over as the Lady Entrepreneur Officer (LEO). Arijit Purkayastha, Chairman designate of the Chapter assured to put in best efforts by his team to promote the region extensively with the support of the State Government.
According to the top leadership, a good number of ADTOI members in North East specially in Guwahati (Assam) encouraged to have a separate North East chapter. Earlier, the North East region was part of the West Bengal Chapter.
ADTOI President PP Khanna assured unstinted support by its members on PAN India basis to promote North East region among the domestic tourists all the year round. With the improved infrastructure facilities and accessibility to the destinations he is expecting a rise in the tourist arrivals in all States in the North East in the days to come.
Among those present on the occasion were Rajesh Prasad, Principal Secretary, Razvee Hussain, Addl Secretary Tourism Govt. of Assam, Bhaskar Phukon, Managing Director, Assam Tourism Development Corporation, along with ADTOI team lead by its President, P P Khanna and accompanied by Chetan Gupta, General Secretary, Dalip Gupta, Treasurer, Anil Rajput, Joint Secretary and EC Members Ashish Sehgal, Ved Khanna, Vishal Bhatia and West Bengal Chapter Chairman, Debjit Dutta.
